Policies

The Socialist Party of Iceland is a political party for the people of Iceland. Its goal is a society of freedom, equality, human dignity, and solidarity. These objectives can only be achieved by placing power in the hands of the people in the country.

The Socialist Party of Iceland is a party for wage earners and all those who live with scarcity, invisibility, and powerlessness. The opponents of the Socialist Party of Iceland are the capitalist class and its agents. The arena of the Socialist Party of Iceland is a broad class struggle that rejects compromises and false dialogue.

In its work, the Socialist Party of Iceland emphasizes what unites the people in the country: the injustice they face and the desire to break free from it. All citizens are welcome to join the party, regardless of gender, origin, religion, or sexual orientation.

The Socialist Party of Iceland wants societal progress to be guided by the interests of the public. Therefore, the public must gain power, not only over public institutions but also over their immediate environment. The workplace, the labor union, the school, the neighborhood, the municipality, the village—all these areas should be under decentralized control where the interests of the people come first.
